Workshop Descriptions

ERICKSONIAN Hypnosis
with Joann Abrahamsen
Milton Erickson was famous for indirect suggestions, formulated by using hypnotic language patterns. Many of the indirect suggestions were embedded commands, which are powerful ways to make suggestions, because while people won’t consciously notice them, they register and have impact at an unconscious level. We will explore some of these patterns and demonstrate several induction methods utilizing the Erickson style.

PAST LIFE REGRESSION AS A THERAPY
with Viktoria Ter-Nikoghosyan
Have we lived before? What is Karma? Is a current problem a result of a Past life? In this presentation we will explore the theory of past lives and Past Life Regression as a tool for uncovering problems and resolving the problem now in the current life.

HOW TO USE BEAUTY HYPNOSIS TO LOOK & FEEL YOUR BEST
with Phyliss Velardi
My program encourages a healthy life-style and a holistic approach using a variety of strategies to combat weight and effects of aging. There are no pills or starvation diets to follow. It is safe and effective. I developed this program just for women because after working, successfully, with thousands of woman for self-improvement, I knew there was a need. My area of expertise involves the whole person, taking into consideration all the aspects involved to help one improve their lives through their behavior, habits, attitudes, looks, inner and outer beauty, relationships, career, exercise, right foods to eat and over-coming stress.

MEDICAL APPLICATIONS OF HYPNOSIS
with James B. Cullum
Over a hundred and fifty years ago Dr. James Braid was using hypnosis for anesthesia to perform limb amputations and other major surgical procedures. Hypnosis has been successfully used for allergies, pain control, childbirth, bruxism, healing and the list is almost endless. Today we will explore some of these other, less well known uses of hypnosis.

COUPLES THERAPY & HYPNOSIS
with Walter E. Brackelmanns, M.D.
In a select number of cases, the conflict between the couple is of such a magnitude that any interaction or any comment can result in a massive, explosive and even violent reaction. One of the most effective ways of dealing with this is through hypnosis. This lecture will elaborate this point.

SURVIVING CANCER HELP WITH HYPNOSIS
with Kanta Bosniak
A cancer survivor, Kanta will share visualizations she used in her healing and recovery process that will help you support a client who is undergoing hysterectomy and chemotherapy for endometrial or ovarian cancer. Some aspects she will cover: Coping with a diagnosis, releasing fear, “turning it over,” asking for and accepting support. Pre-op: preparing for surgery, boosting the immune system, claiming your healing power, self-reiki, “talking to the cells,” suggestions for a successful operation. Post-op: putting the dis-ease behind you, finding your strongest life motivators, enhancing the healing process, learning to rest, mourning/reframing the loss of organs, creating a new relationship with your body, managing chemo and side effects, dealing with hair loss, redefining femininity, beauty and personal power, owning and appreciating gifts of the process, moving forward.

HYPNOSIS GOES TO THE MOVIES
with Walter E. Brackelmanns M.D.
The three objectives to this workshop are: 1st to give a relatively comprehensive presentation of how hypnosis has been depicted in the movies over the past century, 2nd- to discuss with the group the degree hypnosis is accurately represented, 3rd- to look at how any distortion in the truth is out of ignorance or needed for its dramatic effect. We will view and discuss “Dead Again”, an interesting look at Past Life Regression. A private investigator takes the case of a woman beset with amnesia. A hypnotist reads about it in the newspaper and offers his services to try to restore her memory and all soon discover that they could be connected to a lurid, 40-year-old murder of a famous composer’s wife. This unique love story has suspense, intrigue, past lives, and hypnosis. We recommend viewing the film prior to the conference, but you will still enjoy our presentation even if you don’t get a chance to see it.
